I have to get this off my chest...Michigan Problem with Gas.?

Unemployment rate is at the highest it has ever been and we have some of the highest Gas Prices...Michigan $3.29 a gal. The government takes 60% of that, State takes 6% and the Gas station takes 1% . Why doesnt the government lessen their percentage they take out if they really want to help our country? I%26#039;m sorry, I do love Bush but ever since he has been in office there has been a 240% increase in the price of gas which is still getting higher and higher.

I have to get this off my chest...Michigan Problem with Gas.?

It might help if you get your facts correct. Unemployment is at some of the lowest levels in history. It is less than 5%. Your college economics textbook defines full employment as 5% unemployment (because in a dynamic economy 5% of people are always moving, entering the job market from college, looking for a change, etc.).

The economy is booming. Unemployment is low by any standard. And, the govt. does not control the price of goods in a %26#039;free market economy%26#039;. If you want price controls, read history about them first and the economics of them second. If your reading doesn%26#039;t enlighten you on the benefits of supply and demand and free market pricing, then move to Russia which has a long history of price controls. Which is one reason why they are an economic third world country today.

Good luck.

Want to move. What international cities have little natural disasters, good climate, education and e

My family and I currently live in the US and I have been researching different countries for 4 years now, to find my perfect spot. My biggest concern is mother nature. I am looking for a place that you don%26#039;t have to constantly worry about tsunami%26#039;s, hurricanes, earthquakes, tornado%26#039;s... I don%26#039;t want to have to spend every day of my life ducking for cover. We don%26#039;t mind the cold or the warm, just not anywhere with 90% humidity everyday.

I also need to make sure there are good jobs and a lower unemployment rate, along with good educational options.

The last factor is wars. I am trying to find a place that stays neutral in the world affairs and doesn%26#039;t involve themselves with other countries affairs.

Overall, I just want to find a peaceful place to go. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. It%26#039;s greatly appreciated. I currently am looking at places like Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Iceland, France, Italy... but do not have much information to go on.

Want to move. What international cities have little natural disasters, good climate, education and employment?

canada is good halifax is safe and doesnt have any tsunami%26#039;s, hurricanes, earthquakes, or tornadoes only once every 15 or 20 years and jobs are easy to find or calgary theres alot of jobs but in the winter its really cold somre times or if ur looking for places outside of canada germany is good the gulf like kuwait, saudi arabia, and qatar etc.but it does get hot in the summer there r good places to live and if u dont like the places i gave u keep and searching and good luck

Want to move. What international cities have little natural disasters, good climate, education and employment? loan

try researching holland. its a wonderful country with gorgeous countrysides. the weather is amazing and there aren%26#039;t any natural disasters that i%26#039;ve ever heard of. its also a very peaceful place. the general population are some of the friendlest people i%26#039;ve ever met on my travels.|||Wow, you must watch the mainstream media a lot. Don%26#039;t worry, the world out there isn%26#039;t nearly as bad as they make it seem on the nightly news. They have a phrase called %26quot;if it bleeds, it leads,%26quot; which is a mainstay of the Journalism business. That%26#039;s why the world seems so messed up.

I%26#039;ve lived overseas before (in a so called %26quot;third world country%26quot;) and have traveled to over 30 countries on five continents and never once had a major problem. The countries you mentioned are probably good bets for peace, although keep in mind all of them will be VERY expensive. Switzerland is one of the most expensive countries in the world, as is Norway.

It%26#039;s highly unlikely anything bad will happen while you are abroad, so just go where you feel you%26#039;ll have the most interesting experience! :)|||Try Santa Fe, NM. It doesn%26#039;t have tsunamis, hurricanes, earthquakes, tornados, volcanos, or even ice storms. Santa Fe has low humidity.

Getting a good + permanent job in any of the countries you listed will be very, very difficult for a non-citizen. That also goes for the Netherlands and Canada, as suggested in other answers.

Note that all of the countries you listed participate in military actions abroad - just not in Iraq. Today, staying %26quot;neutral in --- world affairs%26quot; is the same as surrendering your country%26#039;s fate to others (such as to the Taliban).

No employment state?

What if you lived in the state with the highest unemployment rate in the nation and were desperately trying to find income?

Would you move out of state?

What would be the hardest thing for you to give up where you are moving from?

No employment state?

I think it must be very hard for people to move away from their home, where their family and friends are, where they grew up. The ones who do, though, are the most ambitious, so they tend to do well.

That%26#039;s one reason America is so strong! We are a nation made up of immigrants. Hardly anyone has been here more than 3 or 4 generations. And the Irish and Germans and Italians and Swedes and even the Mexicans who came here were the ones who wanted to expend energy in search of a better life.

I would move out of state if I was desperate for income. What I would miss is my family, especially my grandson.|||No, I would stay here because I have to be here and because I work remotely anyway.

If I didn%26#039;t have to be here, maybe the hardest thing to give up would be a warm water outdoor shower that I have here. But the new place would probably be better anyway overall.|||i would move out of state to calif and become a border guard.hardest thing would be leaving my friends

If the stock market is truly doing that well, then companies wouldn%26#039;t be closing down. Somehow the numbers are getting fudged somewhere or businesses that are closing down are trying to f*ck people.

How do you think the economy is performing?loan

The economy has been doing very well overall in recent months. Unemployment has been at very low levels for some time. While the availability of jobs is weaker in some regions, that is an anomaly which occurs periodically %26amp; leads to population shifts as job seekers relocate.

Despite the profit taking %26amp; 400 point drop in the market, the outlook is still very positive. Some companies have closed, but that happens all the time over the course of history as products fall out of favor, or become obsolete, or non essential based upon other market forces.

Unfortunately some jobs have priced themselves out of exustence....it just isn%26#039;t cost effective to operate a business at a loss to maintain salaries which have become unsupportable due to advances in technology or science.

Why did Vicente Fox call Bush the "the ******** guy I have ever met in my life." ?

Is Bush cocky because;

Since 9/11, he has prevented another major terror attack on USA soil.

He has restored Honor %26amp; Dignity to the White House.

He is a former fighter pilot

He has a Harvard MBA

The Bush economy has a ver very low 4.6% unemployment rate.

Maybe because Bush pretends to be a cowboy.|||Out of touch with reality|||Its also ironic because Bush has been very liberal in not doing anything about immigration and has made it clear he really like the illegal immigrants coming in|||No, he is cocky because he thinks that he can go against what the majority of the American people want, and just laugh in their faces. He KNOWS that he has committed illegal acts here in the US but will never pay for his actions.

What is the official position of Catholic Church on Iraq's war?

IRAQ: Diplomacy Not Troops

Many of you probably heard the President outline his plan for a continued U.S. military presence in Iraq - specifically his proposal for an increase in U.S. troops in Iraq. Radio reports this morning noted that the majority of Americans polled disagree with the President%26#039;s strategy. The Center of Concern shares many of these concerns and maintains that a military solution to the crisis in Iraq is not feasible, nor desireable.

Below is a statement issued by concerned Catholic organizations in the U.S., including the Center of Concern, condemning the President%26#039;s strategy in Iraq and calling for an alternative policy of diplomacy and development. We invite you to read the statement and your thoughts on U.S. engagement in Iraq.

RESPONSE TO THE PRESIDENT%26#039;S PROPOSAL FOR A CHANGE OF COURSE IN IRAQ

January, 2007

On January 10, 2007, President Bush announced a change in Iraq policy. We, as organizations of Catholics and as individuals, come together to respond to these new Iraq initiatives.

We respond in the context of Jesus%26#039; call to us in the beatitudes to be people of peace (Matt 5:9), and to love our enemies (Luke 6:27) as well as the November 2006 statement by the President of United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Bishop William S. Skylstad. In that statement, Bishop Skylstad notes that the pain and destruction of the war in Iraq is %26quot;measured in lives lost and many more injured, in widespread sectarian strife, civil insurgency and terrorist attacks, and in the daily struggles of Iraqis to build a decent future for their devastated nation.%26quot; He noted further that the way forward is bleak and stated that %26quot;The Holy See and our Conference now support broad and necessary international engagement to promote stability and reconstruction in Iraq.%26quot;

We are keenly aware that the members of the U.S. military and their families are shouldering the heavy burdens of extended service in Iraq. They risk death and injury of both body and spirit. However, it is crucial to recognize that political and economic concerns, not military issues, are fueling the continuing strife. Therefore, only solutions that combine the political, diplomatic, economic and religious issues Iraqis face will effectively resolve the underlying conflict and bring peace to Iraq. As the last three years have demonstrated, increasing the U.S. troop presence in Iraq will neither address the root causes of civil strife nor quell the violence. Increased U.S. military action will needlessly endanger our troops and detract from effective action to achieve a cease-fire and create peace. Therefore, the escalation of military presence in Iraq is detrimental to our men and women in the armed forces.

The escalation of military action is far more harmful to Iraqi citizens who are paying the ultimate price in ever-increasing numbers through violence, hunger and lack of ordinary services. Every day, more and more ordinary Iraqis are fleeing their homes and becoming refugees - either within Iraq or in neighboring countries. This dislocation spreads religious, economic and political instability around the region, making it increasingly difficult to handle the influx of those traumatized by this war. The escalation of military action is detrimental to the Iraqi people and the surrounding region.

United States citizens are keenly aware that the military is not an effective tool for bringing peace to Iraq. U.S. citizens understand that Iraq is in the midst of a civil war that requires the engagement of all parties in a peace process in order to resolve the issues. Military action in this context only brings more violence and bloodshed and no end to this conflict. The escalation of military action is detrimental the desires of people of the United States.

Finally, only those in the military and their families are sacrificing for the sake of this war. There has been no effort to finance this war with taxes or other military offsets and the war has been funded without consideration of its impact on the overall federal budget. This fiscal irresponsibility will hamper future generations as they are forced to pay the bills for this generation%26#039;s war. The escalation of military action is detrimental to the economic future of the United States.

THEREFORE:

We oppose the proposed escalation of U.S. troops in Iraq noting that prior escalations have not resulted in increased peace and stability. Troop escalations in Baghdad in the late summer and early fall of 2006 resulted in increased violence and death for both U.S. soldiers and Iraqi civilians.

We support the President%26#039;s call for economic development in Iraq, noting that the current unemployment rate is running at 40 to 50%. Additionally, 60% of the population is under the age of 25 and is in dire need of alternatives to imagine a better future. Any economic development should directly benefit the Iraqi people and their communities, not contractors from other corners of the world.

We urge the President to engage in diplomatic and political negotiations seeking a comprehensive cease fire by all factions in Iraq and the region. The rejection of a comprehensive diplomatic effort is a short-sighted view of American interests. A surge of diplomacy, not an escalation of troops is what is required.

So just what%26#039;s your question? It appears that you had the answer before you asked?

What is the official position of Catholic Church on Iraq%26#039;s war? loan

The Catholic Church is opposed to war for almost any reason and has been opposed to the war in Iraq since day one. Murder is murder whether it is done by a government, a person, or a doctor.|||oh my...|||The Church has a right to voice an opinion about any matter it chooses, even though it should probably address its history of protecting pedophile priests before it goes condemning a war that is being fought against a terrorist ideology that would take as much satisfaction blowing up the Vatican as it would blowing up the Mall of America.

War sucks!! There%26#039;s no two ways about it. We all die. do we die fighting for our freedom? Or, do we die screaming as a dull blade hacks off our head?

Tough choices for some. For others, not so tough.|||Thank you for this post.|||their position seems to me: anti-abortion anti-gay and nothing else matters|||I agree with the Catholic Church%26#039;s position on the Iraq War, one which should have been heeded by the Bush Administration a long time ago which would have prevented the ill-advised invasion of Iraq in the first place.|||I agree, sending more troops is as logical as throwing gasoline on a camp fire in hopes that it will burn itself out faster. Iraqis must decide their own destiny. Peace or War is up to them. As Christians, we should work on the side of peace.

The indices closed much higher than over 3,000 soldiers, who remained down, six feet.|||War breeds prosperity. Do we really want to build our economy on deficit spending and national and personal debt? What kind of jobs were created? Minimum wage, service sector jobs? I think you should look a little deeper. Also, do you realize that the American dollar has LOST over a quarter of its value overseas? Foreign money is financing our national debt. That sounds good, right? Think again. Our foreign financiers will be pulling their investments as soon as it is feasible for better returns on their investments. The reason for the low dollar is artificially low interest rates. Hence, when the money supply starts to shink due to devestment, interest rates will rise--just about in time for the next president.

It looks great on my portfolio, but you need to look where it is going. Surface indications don%26#039;t always tell the full truth.
