Regarding to unemployement question....?

In year 2005, economists were saying that Singapore economy was close to full employment even though the unemployment rate was 3.6 percent. How can they make this assertion?

because theres a certain percentage of ppl in every country that are deemed undesireable or unemployable for many reasons, lazy work habits...not enough education...etc.|||If you had 100 people, and only 3 of them did not work, wouldn%26#039;t you say that you had close to full employment?

%26quot;Close%26quot; doesn%26#039;t mean total, it means nearly.|||Its how you massage the statistics. If you make it hard for unemployed to register for employment by offering jobs which nobody want, you will have less %26#039;unemployed people%26#039;. The problem in Singapore is under-employment. Highly qualified people such as marine architects becoming taxi drivers instead. People who continue further education as there are no jobs available.

A good way to size up employment is to look at appointment pages, see if they continue to post the same ads again and again. Some are for marketing strategy for non-existent jobs. Before 2000, companies would have very hard time finding staff with salaries getting higher.
